Dancer and choreographer extraordinaire Mavin Khoo recently gave a two-week dance course teaching classical ballet and contemporary at the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Ballet.
Mavin Khoo was born in Malaysia where he began his dance studies, training in India, Britain and the USA. He has studied ballet and contemporary dance, as well as Bharata Natyam under the world renowned maestro, Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman. Dancers from all over the world come to study Bharata Natyam with him. He also serves as a guest teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts in Kuala Lumpur.
Commissioned choreography includes creations for the National Youth Dance Company and London Studio Centre's Jazz Company. He has performed all over the world, including Malta. He was described by The Times of Malta as 'a dancing hybrid'.
The Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Ballet is currently preparing for its 20th anniversary show ‘Swan Lake’, with principal guest artistes from the UK, at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on the 5th and 6th December.
